Growing up in South West Saskatchewan gave me a sense of the beauty around us. The ‘negative space’ that abounds around places and objects on the prairies is truly magical.

When I took up my first professional camera in 2000 I immediately fell in love with the possibilities. I enrolled in the photography program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and upon graduating set up a ‘wet’ darkroom to begin processing and printing my black and white film. The magic of a darkroom is truly something special for anyone who has not experienced it. As I continued to grow in my craft I enrolled in the Visual Design Program at the University of Calgary which gave me a new perspective on how to ‘see’ things based on both classical and abstract painters. My journey had begun.

I was for a number of years part of an art collective in Calgary learning to understand the works of painters and sculptures and other photographers. It was a special time.

I moved to digital photography around 2006. I loved the new found creative tools of the digital darkroom, it opened up a whole new world of possibilities.

My works have been shown in galleries in Calgary and Scottsdale including Artpoint Gallery, Calgary Stampede Western Showcase, University of Calgary gallery, Turner Valley Public Library Gallery and Zanadu Gallery.

I am not sure where this journey will take me next but I am certain my creative learning will continue as long as I hold a camera in my hand
